Matti Rautiainen takes bronze in World Ploughing Contest
19.08.2008Finnish Valtra driver Matti Rautiainen took bronze in the World Ploughing Contest held in Grafenegg, Austria on 15-16 August. Rautianen, who participated in the conventional ploughing category, placed fifth on the stubble and second on the grassland. The conditions in Grafenegg varied considerably from rain to sunshine.

“I was lying fifth after the stubble. On the second day I thought the grassland leg went well, but I wasn’t sure of the result. It was quite a surprise when I heard in the award ceremony that I had placed second on the grassland and third overall. I’m really happy with this result,” Rautiainen commented.
Another Finn, Hannu Alander, placed sixth in the reversible ploughing event. Other Valtra drivers included Johan Berggren from Sweden, who finished 15th in the conventional category, and Peter Alderslade from England, Soren Svenningsen from Denmark and Jaroslav Demo from Slovakia, who finished 7th, 9th and 25th in the reversible ploughing category.
