Strong finish brings silver in Euro Cup
23.09.2008A good result at the finals of the Euro Cup in Bettborn, Luxembourg, earned second place overall for Pekka Herlevi and Sigma Power. The Valtra Shell Pulling Team’s success was boosted by Matti Herlevi’s second place at the Bettborn event with Caesar, which promoted him to fourth in the overall standings.
Pekka Herlevi was pulling for victory with his Sigma Power in Luxembourg.
On the whole this was a mixed season for the team: silver in the Euro Cup and the European Championships was well earned, but the team’s other tractors did not make it onto the podium.
“Bettborn was a good event for us. We moved the battery on both Caesar and Boris from above the rear axle to a temporary place in front of the front axle. This added weight and improved traction, especially on Caesar. Boris suffered from a lack of power. We found that the piston rings on Boris were surprisingly worn, so it’s easy to say in hindsight that we should have changed them before the competition. If only there was one more event left in the season,” Pekka commented.
Overall victory in this year’s Euro Cup went to Rocky from the Netherlands. Pekka Herlevi took second with Sigma Power, Extreme Temptation from the Netherlands came in third, John Deere from Denmark fourth, Antti Hyyppä’s Boris fifth and Matti Herlevi’s Caesar sixth.
The weather and track for the Bettborn event were once again ideal. A large number of spectators were on hand thanks in part to the good weather.
